Corfu Kanoni PeninsulaThe peninsula of Kanoni is where excavations took place to reveal the ancient city of Paleopolis. Located just along the coast from Corfu City, it figures amongst the island's highlights. Next to Paleopolis lie the ruins of the old and repeatedly destroyed basilika as well as the Agii Theodori cloister along with the adjacent excavation site of the Artemis Temple. An archaeological museum provides visitors with indepth knowledge of the spectacular finds of this area. It is situated close to Corfu's well-kept main cemetery, whose historical tombs make a worthwhile visit too. The tip of the Kanoni peninsula offers truly amazing panoramic views of the sea and ranks amongst the most popular photography locations. |
